Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas for Travel Lovers

25/12/2019

If you’re scrambling for last-minute Christmas gifts for a travel lover in your life, here are a couple of thoughtful, travel-inspired ideas that they are bound to love. These are great not only for Christmas but for any occasion really – birthdays, anniversaries and those ‘just because’ moments. And, of course, let’s not forget that the most beautiful gift you can give anyone is your time and love – no amount of beautifully wrapped presents will ever beat that. Just a little something to remember when you’re hectically running from store to store in the search of the ‘perfect’ Christmas gift! 🙂

Sara Miller London

Sara Miller London

I discovered Sara Miller last year and it quickly became one of my go-to brands when shopping for travel-loving friends (and myself!). Vibrant, colourful and playful, Sarah designs are inspired by her adventures around the globe. From the craftsmanship that brought to life the palaces of Jaipur to sakura blossom in Japan, Sarah finds joy in translating her travel experiences into lifestyle designs. Her Christmas 2019 homeware range is especially wonderful, and features Thaiti-inspired bowls and plates, and colourful tableware with jungle-like designs. If your nearest and dearests are longing for sunshine-filled adventures in far-away lands, Sarah’s jewellery pieces are also a great choice, and a perfect way of motivating them to book that dream trip!

Jungle Dream

Jungle Dream Shop

A Polish brand with a Bali soul, Jungle Dream sell home and fashion accessories, each with a story to tell, made ethically and with a whole lotta love in Bali. Dreamt into life by my high school friend and her business partner, every item reflects their love for the island, where they both moved in search for happiness. All products are authentic, handmade by local artisans using natural materials, helping support Balinese communities and trade. From gorgeous macramé cushion covers to jewellery and bags, Jungle Dream brings a slice of Bali heaven to your home and is a perfect feel-good gift to anyone dreaming of Southeast Asia adventures.

Osprey

Osprey doesn’t need much of an introduction – inspired by the passion for the great outdoors, their backpacks are perfect for adventure-lovers with a soft spot for nature, and are great for hiking, biking and climbing!

I especially like their lifestyle range – it works well for those busy, on the go days in the city but is equally fitting for a little forest hike. Ever since moving to Sweden earlier this year, I’ve been on a mission to simplify my life – spend more time in nature, dedicate more time to enjoying the small things. I’ve never been a fan of adventure gear as I find it intimidating but I genuine love Osprey’s range – it’s stylish, easy to carry AND very practical. The Transporter Roll in teal is my favourite out of the range.

Iittala

iittala candle holders

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of all things Scandinavian, from the lifestyle – which prioritises balance, simplicity and closeness to nature –  to design which reflects all three. Winter in Scandinavia is the perfect time to embrace all things mysigt (Swedish for cosy), and the best way to do it is by inviting in the light, especially where there’s so little of it outside. Scandinavians love to fill their apartments with candles, fairy lights and lamps, creating cosy little corners, perfect for enjoying those long, dark nights.

Iittala is a Finnish classic and their collection of tealight and candle holders is somewhat of a Scandinavian staple. Treat your loved ones to a little something from their range and bring those cosy, Scandinavian feels to your home. Who knows, they may inspire more Nordic adventures in the new year!

Desenio

Desenio travel inspired, wanderlust posters

Another Scandi favorite of mine, Desenio stocks a stunning collection of prints. You can’t go wrong with treating your favourite travel lover to a poster reminiscent of their beloved city, from sultry Parisian landscapes to the black and white map of Stockholm. You know the feeling of longing for being somewhere other than where you are now? Sometimes it’s homesickness, other times it’s about missing the place where you’ve felt the happiest, and sometimes it’s what Germans refer to as fernweh – the longing for far-away places. Whatever an adventurer in your life may be longing for, a little thoughtful gift from Desenio will help bring a small piece of their travels into their home.

What gifts are you buying this Christmas? Let me know in the comments below!

My first Swedish Midsummer 🌸 The time to celebr My first Swedish Midsummer 🌸 The time to celebrate the summer solstice, on the night that’s almost as bright as day. I danced till I couldn’t feel my feet, had way too much snaps, ate my body weight in herring and cake, and, of course, wore a white dress and a flower crown. The weather was incredible (which, as every person at the party reminded me multiple times, is apparently unlikely to ever happen again 😝), and by the time I got home at 2:30am, the sky was blue as if it was the middle of the day. Thank you for the memories @iva_jeretic 🌺☀️
It’s the day before Midsummer’s eve, and I wok It’s the day before Midsummer’s eve, and I woke up in the most magical lakehouse belonging to a dear friend of mine, just on the outskirts of Stockholm. I’m so excited for tomorrow, it almost feels like waiting for Christmas! Maypoles and dancing, and flower crowns, and strawberry cake, and a night that’s as bright as day. 💫 🌸The longer I’m in Sweden, the more I’m convinced I somehow fell down the rabbit hole and found myself in Wonderland 🦋

Summers in Stockholm are dreamy. It’s only May b Summers in Stockholm are dreamy. It’s only May but the midnight sky is already marked with blue hues, and the sun rises before 4am. The air smells of summer, that deep scent that sticks to your lungs and fills them with light. They alleyways and parks are drenched in lilacs and the city suddenly feels more alive, and it rubs off on you. It’s like walking through a dream but with your eyes wide open. 💫
